ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH
is a market town of some 15,000 inhabitants situated in the very heart of England in the county of Leicester with Burton-on-Trent to the west, Derby to the north, Nottingham to the north-east, Leicester to the south-east and Birmingham and Coventry to the south.

PITHIVIERS lies in the centre of the département of Loiret some 60 miles south of Paris and 30 miles north-east of Orléans. It is quite similar to Ashby as a market town with important local industries, such as sugar and pharmaceuticals and this, of course, is why the two towns selected each other for twinning. It has a largely autonomous municipal authority and is the seat of a deputy-prefect.

IN 2010 WE CELEBRATED THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWINNING IN ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH AND IN 2011 WE CELEBRATED IT IN PITHIVIERS.
